Chiropractic Treatment Procedures: Spinal Manipulation

The typical chiropractic procedure that is done by chiro practors is the so-called chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation. This procedure involves realigning the joints in the spinal column to promote natural healing. As a result of this, some cracking or popping sounds will be heard by the patient. These are usually mistaken as breaking bones but are actually gas sounds that are heard when the spaces between the joints are eliminated because of the realignment process.

The main basis of spinal manipulation is the principle of structure and function. In chiropractic, body structure (spinal column) is closely linked with function (nervous system). The existence of vertebral subluxation or spinal dysfunction will greatly affect the nerves and the spinal chord as well as the nervous system. This, in turn, will cause pains and disorders in the body organs involved. To eliminate these pains and disorders, a Pensacola chiroprac tor will fix the spine through manipulation or adjustment, thus, bringing back the spine to its natural state. This then promotes natural healing.
